Occam Software: Your Hidden Network Asset
Thursday, June 4, 2009
10:00 am PT/ 1:00 pm ET
When service providers discuss their access network the focus is typically on technology—copper or fiber, ADSL2Plus, GPON or Gigabit Ethernet—but they often forget to mention one of the most important elements of the network: software. Providers can design and build sophisticated access networks that function smoothly, deliver advanced features and operate cost-efficiently with Occam's variety of innovative software packages. But are you using the software effectively to create a network optimized to meet your subscriber demands? If you’re not sure, then this is the right webinar for you.
Join Kris Sowolla, Occam's Market Development Manager, as he takes a look beyond the typical “feeds and speeds” discussion to consider the important role various Occam software components play in network performance and how that performance affects a subscriber’s quality of experience. During the webinar Kris will discuss:
- Network protection mechanisms
- How to protect complex topologies
- Network security in an IP service environment
- Efficient handling of video traffic
- Troubleshooting video streams
- Assuring QoS and m

OccamOS 6.1: Simplifying Network Operations and Enabling New Revenue Streams
Thursday, February 26, 2009
Demand for high-speed broadband services continues to grow at robust pace, speeding the transition to an optical access network. However, this transition is happening in stages. The result—a single access network with varying levels of performance and flexibility demands. The new OccamOS 6.1 has been developed to deal with a network in transition more effectively. The inherent flexibility of the new OS is ideal for network operators in the midst of transition because it provides a single, fully integrated platform capable of enabling operators to cut OpEx, reduce time to revenue and create new revenue streams.
Review February's OccamOS 6.1: Simplifying Network Operations and Enabling New Revenue Streams, webinar on-demand for a comprehensive look at how the new features and benefits of the OS will help you to more easily meet the ever-increasing demand for broadband services. During this webinar, Occam's Jim Soriano discussed:
- A
look at the benefits of a common operating system (OS) across all
BLC blades
- An overview of GPON Ethernet Business Services support, including Transparent LAN Service (TLS) and configurable VLAN assignment
- The importance of direct MGCP-to-softswitch support
- A description of GPON dynamic bandwidth allocation/oversubscription
- Why SRA + retransmission provide better DSL performance on copper lines that may be impaired by age or noise
- The significance of adding industry standard pseudowire (CES-SAToP) T1 transport over Ethernet
Ethernet Business Services: Adding a New High-Margin Revenue Stream
Thursday, February 5, 2009
Enterprise service infrastructure, or Ethernet Business Services, is a growing opportunity for service providers to leverage the investments they’ve made in their access networks. As the market for Triple Play residential services starts to become saturated it makes great financial sense to add a new high-margin revenue stream such as Ethernet Business Services to the bottom line.
Occam invites you to learn more about this excellent opportunity to broaden your service portfolio, leverage your IP and Ethernet access network and add new revenue by attending our first 2009 webinar, Ethernet Business Services: Adding A New High-Margin Revenue Stream. Juan Vela, Occam Director of Solutions and Marketing Strategy, will provide:
- An overview of the traditional and emerging Ethernet Business Services, including a discussion of the services defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) as alternatives to traditional business services
- An overview of the technology options that can be used to make Ethernet services available to all business customers
- The Occam vision of an Ethernet Business Services access network
