Deliver On-Demand Triple Play Services with New GPON Products from Occam Networks - the High Definition Access™ Leader

Thursday, November 8, 2007
10:00 am PDT/1:00 pm EDT

On-Demand HD Video. It's already starting to happen, and there's no way to know how fast and how much it will replace broadcast video. Will it bring your access network to its knees? Or will it open up dramatic new business opportunities? How can a cost-effective access network that you install today guarantee that you'll be ready, whatever the future holds?

If these questions keep you awake at night, you'll want to join Russ Sharer, Occam's Vice President of Marketing, as he provides an overview of the company's innovative new GPON products. Every Occam GPON OLT features the Occam Packet Engine, a new processor that supports massive Ethernet and IP processing. Unlike other access products that layer GPON onto ATM-based technology, Occam supports full line-rate bandwidth for every GPON port simultaneously, both inter-blade and onto the backhaul. And they have the advanced IP and Ethernet functionality critical for video on demand and other high-bandwidth services.

Don't miss this terrific opportunity to learn more about this unique and comprehensive GPON solution from Occam Networks.

IPTV is one of the areas in which IP technology is changing the broadcasting landscape. Broadband has evolved to the point where IPTV is now viable, and is set to become a key driver in the telco's Triple Play value proposition. However, IPTV is so much more than simply matching what cable TV has been providing for so many years. IPTV delivers a far richer and interactive viewing experience that goes beyond passive television watching.

Join Ken Pyle, President of Viodi as explores the various forms of IPTV and how IPTV's rapidly evolving services and technologies are disrupting old business models while enabling new service offerings. Find out what impact these changes are having on independent telcos and how you can profit from the intersection of these once disparate fields.

According to the National Multi-Housing Council (Lightwave, July 2006) more than 14 percent of all US residences are multiple dwelling units (MDUs). That is approximately 16 million households in the United States alone. The number is even higher in other countries. These high density buildings present special challenges to service providers as subscribers are demanding more than just high-speed Internet access. Today's more sophisticated subscribers require a variety of new services-from low cost voice over IP (VoIP) service to very high bandwidth high definition TV and video on demand (VoD) service-and building owners are hot to be able to offer them to tenants as a competitive offering.

Join Occam as we discuss the special challenges of high density residential and business service deployment. Learn how Occam can help you deliver:

  • Lifeline POTS
  • VoIP
  • High-speed data
  • Multiple video streams
  • IP-based security

With the new ON 2351, delivering new revenue generating services in high density environments is a snap!

Growing Your Community through Advanced Broadband Services

Thursday, July 26, 2007
10:00 am PDT/1:00 pm EDT

It's not often that service providers get the chance to affect the lives of individuals directly, but at this moment in history you have that opportunity. With the full-spectrum of next generation services that you deliver you can help start a cycle of growth and improvement for communities across our nation.

Clearly jobs are the key to enabling social and economic growth. One of the key questions that many service providers and community planners have to answer is how to attract highly qualified professionals to create a labor pool that will ultimately attract employers. By attracting these people, communities can start a self-sustaining cycle that will lead to improvements in infrastructure, education, goods and services, and businesses.

And, the time has never been better. Today's modern professionals have unprecedented freedom and flexibility to choose where they live, where they work and how they communicate with corporate entities. Many are choosing mid-sized cities and smaller towns for quality of life reasons. As traditional Service Providers, you have the opportunity to create a telecommunication environment that meets the needs of this new generation of professionals. However, to exercise their geographic freedom these professionals must have access to the advanced communications services that keep them connected to the world, their jobs, their partners and their friends.

Join Occam Networks as we discuss how service providers can play a major roll in revitalizing your community's economy. Here are a few of the topics we will cover:

  • Building the right technology infrastructure
  • Delivering the appropriate mix of advanced services
  • The role RUS can play in building an advance infrastructure

Let Occam show you how you can help start a cycle of growth and prosperity for your community!

10G Ethernet - Drivers for Increasing Capacity

Thursday, March 29, 2007
10:00 am PDT/1:00 pm EDT

Ethernet has been evolving steadily to meet the increasing bandwidth, scalability and resiliency demands of packet-based telecommunications networks. Advancements in carrier grade components and value added software has vaulted Ethernet from the local area network to Last Mile, Metro and Wide Area Networks. In addition, consumer electronics such as High Definition Television have reached mass market acceptance and affordability to drive consumer demand for advanced telecommunications services. The result has been a growing appetite for increased network speeds – an appetite that translates into new requirements for Service Provider networks and new challenges for the Service Provider.

Join Juan Vela, Director of Strategic Products and Markets, as he discusses the issues such as the drivers for next-generation capacity in Service Provider Networks and the way in which service demands are impacting network design and capacity.
