The ON 2343 optical network terminal (ONT) provides symmetrical Gigabit Ethernet transport and fiber access termination for the BLC 6000 multiservice access platform. This cost-competitive ONT is designed for single family residence (SFR), MDU/MTU and small-to-medium business (SMB) environments. It delivers lifeline telephone service, high-speed data and a variety of entertainment, business and community organization services. The ON 2343 features HomePNA Mode B data distribution to reduce installation time and complexity.

HomePNA Mode B Distribution
The ON 2343 features a HomePNA Mode B interface that enables a service provider to use existing in-home coaxial wiring for distribution, minimizing installation time and reducing installation complexity.

Bandwidth for the Most Demanding Applications
The ON 2343 features four 10/100BaseTX subscriber ports for smooth distribution of a variety of bandwidth-intensive residential services ranging from IPTV with whole home and multi-screen DVR, multi-screen Internet video, home automation, latency sensitive online gaming and everyday high speed, broadband Internet access, as well as business services including private line, VPN, disaster recovery, security, storage, remote learning and others. The fiber Gigabit Ethernet port can also be used to ‘chain’ multiple ONTs.

Unmatched Lifeline POTS and VoIP
The ON 2343 provides cost-effective delivery of multiple VoIP and lifeline telephony services. It supports both Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling to deliver high-quality VoIP services to the business or home subscriber. The two telephone lines of the ON 2343 provide voice service that is free of the distortion and echo that plague many IP-based voice services, delivering the high-quality voice service—including V.90 FAX and 56Kbps modem support—that providers have come to expect from an Occam product.

Simplified Configuration, Provisioning and Management
The Occam ONT Configuration Manager (OCM) makes configuring the ON 2343 simple and efficient. OCM, a component of OccamView EMS, enables service providers to provision individual, bulk and global configurations. OCM simplifies configuration and provisioning significantly, reducing operating costs and accelerating the delivery of new services that drive revenue growth. The ONT is managed by OccamView, a carrier-class element management system. Using the Broadband Forum’s TR-101 recommended N:1 VLAN-per-service architecture, pre-provisioned Occam ONTs automatically ‘tap-in’ to the authorized services upon turn-up – allowing fast and efficient installation and rapid customer service activation.

Deployment Flexibility
The ON 2343 is housed in a low profile, environmentally hardened enclosure. It can be installed on an outside wall, inside a single family residence, MDU/MTU or business environment at a common service area or inside a communications closet. Integrated wiring, as well as integrated cable management, make it easy to add new subscribers in as little as five minutes, delivering very rapid time to revenue. ONT electronics are located in a separate replaceable module that is hinged and secured with a security tool, and the module includes craft door access to power and optical interfaces.

Broad Range of Power Options
Occam provides a range of ONT power options for the ON 2343—from cost-effective indoor solutions to outdoor solutions that do not require entry to the customer premise for service and maintenance. Some power options work in conjunction with utility companies to provide highly secure, direct-billed power as an alternative to network power.
